Spotlight Athlete: Rick Hassman

We are thrilled to announce Rick Hassman as this month’s spotlight athlete.  Rick has been dedicated and consistent with his training for the past 4 years!  He is a great team player and is supportive of his fellow LIVE athletes.  Keep up the great work!  Congratulations, Rick!

 

What do you do for work?

Retired . I entered military service in 1966 joining the US Army, and retired from reserve service in 2006

What would you like us to know about you and your family? 

I have been married 53 years to Ann Marie.  We met on on my second tour in Germany.
I have 2 children, Jackie Obreza and Graham Hassman, and 2 grandchildren, Erin and Robbie Obreza.  I moved back to Mass six years ago to be close to family.

What is one thing that we may not know about you?

I worked in Africa.  I have moved 18 times.  I was a pilot including:  Rank CW-4, Branch Aviation, Helicopter pilot, Instructor pilot , Maintenance Test pilot

Assignment: Germany. & Vietnam

How long have you been CrossFitting? 

Five years 

What time do you typically train? 

The LIVE class:  8am workouts for the older generation.

What is your favorite lift and why? 

No favorite, dead lifts possibly.

What is your favorite WOD and why?

I do not have a favorite. Just don’t let Marty makeup new ones .

What are your current life goals?

Current goals.. stay alive and healthy.

What is your most memorable time as a CrossFitter? 

Memorable “CrossFitter” Charlie due to his continued improvement.
I feel better, lost weight and maintained the target.

How has CF impacted your life outside of the box?

Oh yes.. How much do I love you?? I love the focused training you provide and hearing you announce 3-2-1.. and least I forget, Debbie’s laugh and Marty.
