Congratulations to Leah, our newest CrossFit Kids’ Spotlight Athlete!
Leah has been a member of the Cynergy CrossFit Kids program since November of 2017. Over the last two years plus, Leah has come so far. One thing we discuss in the program is focusing on positivity. In CrossFit Kids, we always have FUN! Safety and fun are our top two priorities of each class. When there’s something on the board that may not be a favorite movement or skill, we try not to complain and we make the most of it. This is where Leah has shown tremendous growth. As her coaches, we know she does not enjoy running and in the past, she would let us know or ask to sub rowing for running. Leah now looks at us with a smirk when she sees running on the white board, knowing that we know she is going to “fake it till she makes it.” She doesn’t complain and she gets it done, feeling good about it after! Leah is so strong and her form and technique is nearly flawless on her lifts. Leah has always been helpful to her coaches setting up for the warm-up, workout, and helping with cleaning up after workouts. Leah has also always been kind and supportive of her peers in class.
Speaking of peers, they had a couple of questions for Leah and interviewed her to find out some of her favorites:
What is your favorite food? “Mac and cheese, all the way!… and sushi.”
What is your favorite color? “Blue.”
What is your favorite lift? “Clean and jerk.”
What is your favorite CrossFit Kids game? “Tarzan.”
If you could design your own workout, what movements would it consist of? “Pull-ups, burpees, and slow squats. DEFINITELY no running!”
How does it feel to be chosen as Spotlight Athlete? “Good, surprising, and confusing. I used to complain.” Used to are the key words, Leah! 🙂
We are so proud of you and we love coaching you! Congratulations on this well-deserved accomplishment. You’re a sweetheart. <3 Love, Coach Jen and Coach Abby
